A cherished memory of my father's entrepreneurial journey

The Story

I watched my dad build a business from scratch in a whole new country, when he didn't know a single word in English (don't worry, he ended up learning both English AND Spanish to make up for that). As if that wasn't enough, ChatGPT, social media, and Google reviews were non-existent back then, so he grew his business impressively from just word of mouth.

Anyone that has watched their parents build a business from scratch knows the tremendous amount of sacrifice it takes: my dad had to take calls ALL the time, had to miss my basketball games and orchestra concerts (don't make fun of me…), and worked 8 days a week.

Even though he had to take calls and couldn't make it to all of my events, he gave me the best gift of all: the ability to dream big. He is one of the biggest reasons why I support local business owners. I am here to shine a light on each business and be a reminder that no dream is too big to chase. In fact, if your dream doesn't scare you enough, dream bigger.

The Plan

It's simple. My plan is to bring more exposure to the local businesses in Washington, D.C. It's quite literally like supporting my own mom and dad's business and I'm so excited to create a platform that allows the community to support local both deeply and meaningfully.
